How a Birmingham Woman Transformed Her Relationship With Food and Exercise Through Strength Training

Abbie has been a pleasure to work with. She's positive, hard-working, and committed to the process. Her results prove it.
Here's her story:
"I never doubted that Nate knew his stuff- we met in grad school and I know how smart he is. However, I could never have anticipated just how rewarding my time at Steel Strength would be.
The physical results are great (i’ve lost weight and inches off all of my problem areas AND have gotten significantly stronger), but they pale in comparison to the newfound confidence and sense of community i’ve gained in the last 6 months.
Steel Strength encompasses everything an effective strength program should— family, laughter, gains, more gains, and endless amounts of encouragement and one-on-one instruction. Who knew working out could be so fun??
Training at Steel Strength has also played a huge role in helping me establish healthy eating habits.
Prior to SST, I had a pretty emotional relationship with food. Some days I would eat way too little while other days I would eat too much. It was a constant cycle of restricting followed by overeating. I felt stuck and unmotivated to create healthy habits.
Maintaining a consistent training schedule + receiving weekly nutrition advice from Nate has given me the freedom to fuel my body with nutrient dense food 80% of the time, while also enjoying treats 20% of the time (all the while not ruining my progress). I’m the leanest I’ve been in years but still get to eat cookies when I want them.
SST has empowered me to create sustainable lifestyle habits that have improved my physical, mental, and spiritual health."
