How to Get Back on Track After Holiday Eating

Thanksgiving and Christmas are over, and now you're left wondering what to do next. You likely (over)indulged this Holiday season and had a good time doing it. And I wouldn't have it any other way!
That being said, your pants are probably fitting a little tighter than usual and you're feeling motivated with the new year just a few days away.
Let me give you some advice:
Don't try to double your workout intensity and severely cut back on your eating. Sure, it sounds like a great plan. But like any other quick fix, it will fail.
You and I both know you won't keep up that level of perfection for weeks and months on end. So why are you even considering it? Maybe because the fitness industry doesn't give you any good advice. In fact, the industry is often the one telling you to do "intense workouts" and try the "best fat burning diet."
This year, if you really want to get back on track after Holiday eating AND make 2018 your best year yet, you have to do something different.
First, I want you to admit that you had a great time with friends, family, and all the delicious food. Be grateful you had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas this year.
Now I want you to focus on your next decision. Instead of being perfect, start working out. But work out only as hard as you can actually commit to over the long haul. The important thing is you get started. We've got years and years to make the workouts harder. (This is going to be a lifestyle change isn't it?)
As for your nutrition, pick 1-2 habits to focus on for the next week or two. Something simple like drinking an extra glass of water or eating veggies with every meal. Whatever you choose, make sure you can stick to it.
The goal shouldn't be to "undo" what you did over the Holidays. The goal should be to create a lifestyle change. And part of that lifestyle change should include enjoying Holiday meals!
Give up the days of trying to be perfect. Instead, focus on progress and consistency. If you do that, I can promise you'll never have to try another diet or workout program again. You'll know exactly what to do.
