"The Birds and the Bees" The Steel Strength Training Story: Part 1

It all started several decades ago: My parents met, fell in love, and got married.
And when two people love each other very...nevermind. Let's skip ahead!
I was always a high-energy, and somewhat athletic kid. I played lots of recreational sports growing up, but when it came time to try out for my Middle School Basketball team....I didn't make it.
I tried out for the team the next 2 years too. Still didn't make it.
This was a devastating experience for a 14 year old boy!
It made me realize I was only ever going to be decent at sports; not great. So I turned to running. I even ran track on semester in High School. But the result was the same.
I was a decent runner, but nothing impressive. Besides, I really didn't enjoy running much by the time the season was over.
The summer after track season, I started lifting weights. I was sick and tired of being 6'1" and 138 pounds.
I wanted to get bigger, stronger, and leaner.
I started obsessively studying training and nutrition. I wanted to learn anything that was going to help me crush my fitness goals!
This obsession continued well into college until I started personal training at Gold's Gym.
